Highlights
If I were to start over, I would begin with an app that avoids network or synchronization complexities.
The presence of competition doesn't diminish the value of pursuing what you want to create.
Think about the plethora of to-do apps with successful business models. I can probably tell you 10 successful to-do apps/products out there in a very similar market off the top of my head.
