This is a comic about AI art.

Note

Gosh, The Oatmeal was one of my favorite cartoonists back then™️. Then I stopped using an RSS Reader, and the bookmark was lost in a pile of bookmark folders.

And now, reading this comic of his reminded me why I love his style: because he sometimes has genuine takes on things, like in this take on AI!

I tried AI Art back then, when it was new, but after a few weeks of enthusiasm, I realized it was just the technology I found interesting, not the result.
AI Images are called slop because they are missing the soul and the intention of human minds.

There recently was a video by a German YouTuber called "Ultralativ" on this topic that described it best for me. He coined the phrase "It's good enough for you" ("Für euch reicht's"). And yes, that's it; it's called slop for a reason. People creating Ai Images and Videos do not value you, they are imposters out for a quick buck, knowing that we, the consumer, will swallow and consume it.

Maybe I will elaborate on this in a separate article.

In an abrupt shift, the company may release future AI models without ironclad safety guarantees

Boris Cherny, the founder of Anthropic's Claude Code, said AI has largely solved coding, so software engineers will start to take on different tasks.

Note

Boris Cherny, Anthropic's Claude Code founder, declares coding "practically solved" by AI, predicting the "software engineer" title fades by 2026.

Engineers evolve into generalists writing specs, engaging users, and reviewing agent-generated code. Startups use full agent workflows; teams include non-coders coding via AI. Shifts bring productivity but risks like atrophy and fatigue, redefining roles across industries.

TL;DR: The Junior Developer role is disappearing as AI handles entry-level tasks like unit tests and JSON schemas faster and cheaper than humans. This removes crucial learning opportunities where juniors gain codebase knowledge and debugging skills through grunt work.

Seniors emerge from repeated production failures, not tutorials. Vibe coding with AI creates ununderstood codebases.

Result: barbell workforce of experienced seniors using AI and prompt-only users lacking fundamentals.

Solution: Hire juniors to audit AI output via forensic coding.

Visual artists, illustrators and graphic designers share their stories about how AI is being used to lower wages, degrade work and even replace it altogether, in this installment of AI Killed My Job.

Note

The creative industry is facing a systemic collapse as generative AI replaces human illustrators and writers with cheaper, automated substitutes.

The article outlines how professional artists are losing long-term clients and seeing their wages plummet while tech companies profit from their scraped work.

It is a sobering look at why the current AI gold rush might be destroying the very culture it seeks to mimic and why protecting human labor matters now.

The Great De-Frameworking: Why AI Makes Native Code Cool Again How AI can free us from the upgrade treadmill and give us back code we actually own. AI is targeting your node_modules Your doom-scroll …

Note

AI tools like Copilot are dismantling reliance on frameworks such as React, Tailwind, and Next.js, ushering in "de-frameworking." They generate efficient native JavaScript, CSS, and Web Components faster than framework experts, escaping upgrade hell and dependency issues. Developers regain code ownership, building maintainable projects that age gracefully. Frameworks offered short-term boosts but created treadmills; AI returns simplicity, letting humans focus on logic over scaffolding maintenance.

Are websites about to go out of style? AI agents are exploring new user interfaces, including AI browsers and a new project called MCP-UI.

Note

MCP-UI standardizes rich HTML UIs within AI agents using Model Context Protocol, bypassing static websites for agent-first interactions. SDKs for TypeScript/Ruby enable dynamic components like e-commerce in VS Code. Proponents envision AI browsers and Jarvis-like clients replacing browsers; services shift to MCP-native with lean human UIs atop. Bridges AI capabilities to web tech, aligning with projects like NLWeb amid hype for agent UIs.

I’ve been following the shift toward vibe coding, and this piece perfectly captures that transition from rigid engineering to a more intuitive, AI-driven flow. It explores how we're moving away from deep syntax knowledge toward shaping systems through intent. While it warns about the loss of fundamental debugging skills, it also celebrates the sheer creative speed we gain. It’s a compelling look at our new reality: if it feels right and the tests pass, it’s code. 🚀

TL;DR: Utkarsh Kanwat bets against AI agents dominating software development soon due to reliability gaps in complex tasks.

Agents excel in narrow scopes but falter on edge cases, security, and integration. Human oversight remains crucial for production.

He advocates for hybrid approaches where agents assist with routine work, freeing developers for architecture and debugging.

Note

The iKKO ActiveBuds serve as a cautionary tale of how "AI-powered" hype can mask disastrous software engineering. Far from being a revolutionary gadget, this deep dive exposes a "ticking time bomb" of security: from hardcoded OpenAI keys that anyone can steal to a system so porous it can be hacked to run DOOM. It’s a fascinating look at the dark side of hardware startups, where poorly secured Android wrappers and blatant censorship filters create a device that is as vulnerable as it is ambitious.
